Ceepos in Salpaus Further Education

The Challenge

Finnish Salpaus Further Education was established in 2001, when several vocational schools in Lahti region merged. As a new large Regional Provider of Vocational Education and Training, Salpaus saw the opportunity to develop their payment and financial administration processes.

In terms of payment processes, the new large institution had diverse needs: restaurant and catering services, sales of student work, event ticket sales but also collecting study fees from students, all which required easy payment options and added pressure to the efficiency of the financial administration.

Before the processing and debt collection of the high volume of payments with relatively low value had been time-consuming and expensive.

The Solution

Salpaus Further Education initially deployed CPU’s point-of-sale system in 2001, when the training restaurant needed a system that would suit both regular sales and as a training tool for customer service students.

Nowadays the system has been expanded into 20 different points-of-sale within the institution. Over the years, Salpaus has actively developed their environment together with CPU’s experts.

“The biggest achievements over the years have been the full automation in accounting and accounts receivable integration. We’ve had many improvements into reporting and introducing touch screens and a self-service checkout in the pet hotel,” accounting manager Aleksi Teräväinen recalls.

According to him, implementing internal sales into the same payment platform has made catering orders from the training restaurant so much easier to do when no internal invoicing is needed.

Salpaus Further Education has been actively developing their Ceepos environment and will continue to do so in cooperation with CPU. Every now and then, new demands keep arising and next Salpaus will explore the possibilities offered by Ceepos mobile payment solutions and browser-based POS.

Together with CPU, Salpaus is working to find the best solutions to further develop all their payment related processes so that they best serve its students, staff and customers.
